DBA Key Concepts
Work Centers are a fundamental and required feature of the DBA system. If Work Centers are a new concept to your company, you will want to spend some time devising your work center strategy.
Capacity settings are required for all work centers
Work Center capacity settings are a required to help us translate your cycle time raw hours into a more understandable Job Days value that more closely approximates your shop days of operation.
The Work Center Schedule is the heart of your Shop Control
The Work Center Schedule screen establishes what order to run your jobs, where you need material issued, and is where you report your labor sequences completions. Loading your work centers also provides valuable information on where to allocate your employees and resources.
You will assign your BOM components to the work center where the material is to be issued
There is a color coded method for your material issues that need to be performed at a given work center. This provides structure to the task of ensuring that you issue materials when and where they are needed.
Always work on sequences in priority order
DBA auto calculates the priority of your Job sequences based on the days remaining and the requirement date of the job. This auto-adjusting priority always ensures that you are executing your plan and is a DBA innovation that sets us apart from the industry. Your schedule will self adjust to the realities in the shop and eliminates the need for expediting and re-scheduling decisions that inevitably lead to robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Report Labor Completions as Sequences are finished
You can report your labor completions in the Work Center schedule screen in real time as you complete your sequences. This keeps your labor up to date and ensures that the Work Center queues are reflecting reality.
Optionally set up standard processes
Some custom manufacturing companies set up sets of commonly used processes to help speed up routing entry. You are not required to set up processes against your work centers If you are not interested in pre-defining standard processes you can use the DEFAULT process against your work center.
