DBA Classic Conversion Guide

The DBA Classic Conversion Guide provides information and instructions for existing DBA Classic customers who are considering a transition to DBA Manufacturing Software.

DBA Manufacturing is a completely different manufacturing system from DBA Classic, with modernized technology, integrated Demand Driven MRP, and new workflows for inventory management, purchasing, production scheduling, shop control, and product costing.

This guide explains the differences between the two systems, the data that can be transferred, and the implementation steps required to successfully transition to DBA Manufacturing.

Understanding the Differences

Converting from DBA Classic requires more than transferring existing company data. DBA Manufacturing uses a different approach to manufacturing planning, inventory control, and production management.

The guide explains important differences in functionality, including features that are no longer supported, changes to manufacturing workflows, user licensing, and system requirements.

Transferring Data from DBA Classic

The DBATRAN utility can export selected DBA Classic master records into CSV spreadsheets for preparation and import into DBA Manufacturing.

Supported export categories include:

•Customer and supplier records

•Customer and supplier contacts

•Inventory and stock item records

•Item sources and supplier information

•Base prices

•Bill of Materials (BOM) components

•Manufacturing routings

Exported spreadsheets may require editing to meet DBA Manufacturing's data import requirements.

Important: DBATRAN does not transfer open sales orders, manufacturing jobs, purchase orders, invoices, or transaction history. Customers should retain access to DBA Classic for historical reference after conversion.

Data Export Alternatives

The DBATRAN utility is compatible with certain versions of DBA Classic and the Pervasive database engine.

If DBATRAN cannot be used with your installation, the guide explains how to manually export records using DBA Classic's built-in data export capabilities.

Implementing DBA Manufacturing

Customers transitioning from DBA Classic must complete the same implementation process as new DBA Manufacturing customers.

The Startup Wizard provides a structured series of setup, training, and rehearsal tasks to help prepare the system for live operations.

Particular attention should be given to MRP settings, work centers, manufacturing routings, supplier pricing, and inventory planning.

Who Is This Guide For?

This guide is intended for existing DBA Classic customers, business owners, system administrators, implementation coordinators, and IT personnel evaluating or preparing for a transition to DBA Manufacturing Software.
