Initial Job Receipts Guidelines

These guidelines pertain to released jobs that were transferred from your old system.  

If the Actual Cost basis is selected in the Job Cost Basis screen,  actual costs are likely to be incomplete against jobs that were started in the old system.,  Therefore, users should be advised to use the Estimated Job Cost when receiving finished items to inventory in the Job Receipts screen.  

Consider selecting the Estimated Cost basis in the Job Cost Basis screen for the first few weeks after system startup day and then change to the Actual Cost basis when all jobs have complete cost profiles.

If you have standardized products and partial receipts are common, consider using the Estimated Cost basis on a permanent basis.
