Screen Help

Use this screen to extend sales order line item Required Dates on a system-wide basis by an extra shop days amount.

Order Policy = To Order

The following settings apply to items assigned a To Order policy in the MRP Settings screen.

M Items:

Lead Days + Job Days + Shop Days

For items made to order, these fields comprise the planned Time to Shipment target, in which case the Required Date is forward scheduled from the current date by the item’s Lead Days plus Job Days allocations, skipping over any non-shop days not defined in the Shop Calendar.  If you wish to extend all default Required Dates for these items by an additional number of shop days, enter a Shop Days amount.

MRP Planning Period Action Window

Whenever your sales order required date falls outside the MRP planning period action window, a Job will not immediately show up for conversion in MRP.   This demand will get converted to Jobs in a future MRP session.   If your extra shop days value exceeds the MRP Interval in MRP Defaults, this SO demand will be outside the current planning period.  If you wish for your To Order demand to be immediately actionable in MRP, you will want to ensure that your MRP Interval is equal to or greater than your extra shop days value.   MRP Defaults

Why add extra shop days?

Take note that if you specify any extra shop days, all jobs for To Order policy items will be delayed by that number of days.  Unless you purposely want a widespread delay to all such jobs, we do not recommend using this setting.

P Items:

Lead Days + Shop Days

The line item Required Date for purchased items with a To Order policy is forward scheduled from the current date by the item’s Lead Days allocation to a valid shop day defined on the Shop Calendar.  If you wish to extend all such Required Dates out by an additional number of shop days, enter a Shop Days amount.

Order Policy = Stocking

The following setting applies to items assigned a Stocking (Monthly Demand), Stocking (Safety Factor), or Stocking (Manual) order policy in the MRP Settings screen.

M and P Items:

Current Date + Shop Days

Planned Time to Shipment targets for items with a Stocking order policy is normally zero because the items are in stock, in which case the line item Required Date is the current date.  If you wish to extend all default Required Dates for stocked items by an additional number of shop days, enter a Shop Days amount.

Why add extra shop days?

Even though items are in stock, you may not always be able to ship on the same day orders are received.  This setting enables you to add an extra day or two to account for shipping preparation time.
