MRP - Planned Jobs - No Action Needed Grid

Display: No Action Needed

The No Action Needed display option is available in the upper panel of the Planned Jobs screen.  This launches the Future Requirements - No Action grid, which displays items that do not need a planned job at this time, but have future requirements beyond the item's planning period.  No action is needed because there is ample time later for job generation when requirements eventually fall into the planning period and need a planned job.

Future subassembly requirements are incomplete

Take note that future requirements for lower level subassembly items are often incomplete because they accumulate over successive MRP sessions due to varying required dates among top level items.  When requirements eventually fall into the planning period action window, only then is the demand profile complete and firmly set for job generation.

Do not convert these Jobs early

You should wait for these Jobs to enter your planning period action window in a future MRP run.   The planning period action window auto-calculated for each item is a key innovation that DBA brings to the table.   By only converting actual demand into a firm short term schedule, you eliminate a large percentage of scheduling conflicts.   If you have the discipline to wait, you will still have time to manufacture your item according to your own settings, but you are not subject to all of the re-scheduling problems that occur due to acting on tentative demand.  It is especially important to have planning period disciple for your level zero items that you sell.    You can have your customer's change their minds as many times as the wish on their future orders and it will have no adverse impact on your current production plan.

Grid Fields

Item ID, Description, UM

These fields identify the item

Lead Days, Job Days

These fields are the items current MRP lead time settings.

Reorder Point, Min Order, Multiple

These fields are visible against met demand items and are the items replenishment settings.

Required Date

If this is a CTO item, this is the required date associated with the originating sales order line item.   If this is a net demand item, This is the date when net demand falls below the item’s Reorder Point.  In reality, since these item's are outside the planning period action window, they technically have no requirement date at this time.

SO No

This field is visible against CTO items and display the sales order associated with the originating line item.

Stock Status

You can click this icon to open the Projected tab of the Stock Status inquiry within which you can view the item’s supply and demand details inside and outside its planning period.

Period End

This is the item’s current planning period end date.  When your required date equals or is less than your period end, a Job will be suggested.   You can wait for the demand to fall within your MRP action window in a future MRP run.

Move

Click this icon to move this item to the Planned Jobs list so that a job can be created.   We do not recommend using this function.  For a significantly improved schedule with less conflicts, our recommendation is to wait until the demand makes it into your planning period action window in a future MRP session.  You will still have time to manufacture this item based on your own MRP settings and you will eliminate many conflicts that arise from pulling tentative demand into a firm schedule.

CTO Item

When the item is moved to the Planned Jobs grid, the planned job is forward scheduled from the current date so that the Job Finish date remains within the item's planning period.  Take note that the Job Finish date will be earlier than the sales order line item Required Date.

Net Demand Item

When the  item is moved to the Planned Jobs grid, the Plan Qty is zero because no current requirements exist.  Enter a Plan Qty to create a job based on your assessment of the item's stock status.  At Job conversion the Job Required Date will be set to the Finish Date of the job in a similar manner to a manually created Job.

Category

This field displays the Item Category to which this item is assigned.
